134 Sometimes thought to be this William Jameson. However E.O.Jameson said of this, "There is a coincidence of some interest in the followiwing fact, that another William Jameson, son of William Jameson, born about 1675 in the county of Edinburugh, Scotland, from the province of Ulster, Ireland, arrived from over the seas, Aug. 4, 1718, in the port of Boston, Massachussetts Bay, and a little later, with a few others, sailed for the coast of Maine and landed in Falmouth, where he settled and became the ancestor of The Jamesons in Maine. From anything which appears, this William Jameson, from the north of Ireland, knew nothhing of the then late William Jameson, tailor, of Charleston, Mass, or that his heirs owned land in the vicinity, but he and his party dropped anchor in Casco Bay, and he established his home not far from the location of his hundred acres of land at that very time held in the Jameson name, in Falmouth, Me. Bearing the same name, ownership of land in the same vicinity about the same period has led sometimes to the wrong conclusion that they were one and the same person. Jameson, William (I149)

146 The parents and origins of this family are murky and confusing. E.O.Jameson is generally credited with the earliest references and genealogy of this family in his book, "The Jamesons in America" (p.19). He lists John as the some of a William Jameson, bc. about 1680 Edinburgh, emigrated 1718 with other Jamesons, arriving Boston, but apparently unlike the others made his way, with his family to Voluntown, CT, where he died in 1734. This family's existance in early CT and beyond is otherwise validated, however the information as to his origins prior to that are suspect and unverifiable.
The only verifiable record for the birth of a John Jameson anrond this time is in 1679, with the Scottish National Records, as the son of a Robert and Isobell (Clarke) Jameson. We have elected to use that here for this family, only because this seems more likely, even though it too is speculative. Perhaps DNA testing in some future date can determine what family this group belongs.
We have listed this family with the William Jameson family of Maine tempoarly (as was E.O.Jamesons speculation) until proven otherwise.
Jameson, John (I12)

147 The Tombstone reads "John R. Jameson" with a birth date of 1811. This must be suspect, given his father died (abroad) in 1810. Nevertheless, this 1811 date is consistent (1811, 1812 and 1813) with all known contemporaneous documents (census, etc.) associated with him. Jameson, John R. (I2499)

148 The wife of this William Jameson is often said to be Elizabeth Golding. This is almost certain not to be the case. Adam, Margaret (I100)

149 There is a grave stone at Beach Grove Cemetery, Beach Haven, Luzerne Co., PA (Row 12, Grave 15) with her name, Part of he 2nd husband Marmaduke Pearce burial. However she was, at her own request, actually buried at Hollenbeck Cemetery with her children from her 1st marriage. Jameson, Hannah (I131)

150 There is a second (and later) marriage for this couple in the state of Washington, where Lillian was born and grew up. It is listed as 7 Jan 1948 and in King County, Washington. Family: Milton Frank Jameson / Lillian Frances Boyd (F1184)
