• Notes

  The parents and origins of this family are murky and confusing. E.O.Jameson is generally credited with the earliest references and genealogy of this family in his book, "The Jamesons in America" (p.19). He lists John as the some of a William Jameson, bc. about 1680 Edinburgh, emigrated 1718 with other Jamesons, arriving Boston, but apparently unlike the others made his way, with his family to Voluntown, CT, where he died in 1734. This family's existance in early CT and beyond is otherwise validated, however the information as to his origins prior to that are suspect and unverifiable. The only verifiable record for the birth of a John Jameson anrond this time is in 1679, with the Scottish National Records, as the son of a Robert and Isobell (Clarke) Jameson. We have elected to use that here for this family, only because this seems more likely, even though it too is speculative. Perhaps DNA testing in some future date can determine what family this group belongs. We have listed this family with the William Jameson family of Maine tempoarly (as was E.O.Jamesons speculation) until proven otherwise. [2]
